Very Versatile Muesli

Oats, nuts and fruit. This very versatile muesli makes the perfect breakfast.

I always have a jar of this muesli in the kitchen ready for a quick breakfast. Consisting of Oats, Flax Seed, Dried Fruit and Nuts, it makes a fantastic gluten free, dairy free, oil free and refined sugar free breakfast base.

Very Versatile Muesli

Very Versatile Muesli is fantastic:

  • Simply served with plant milk and extra fruit.
  • Soaked with fruit, plant milk or yoghurt as overnight oats.
  • Heated with plant milk or water and served as porridge.
  • As a topping for plant yoghurt.

Oats are a fantastic gluten free, low fat wholegrain (check the packet as although they are gluten free, oats may become contaminated with gluten products during processing). They are high in fibre and a great source of protein. Oats are also high in Manganese, which helps to create enzymes for building strong bones. They are also very affordable compared to some other wholegrains.

This muesli is so simple to make. It literally takes less than 10 minutes and you can add any combination of fruit and nuts to the oats that you like. You can also add seeds and spices if that’s what you fancy, although I prefer to add these as toppings so that I get a different flavour each time.

Dried fruits are chopped and added to oats. Use whichever combination of fruit that you like. I have used raisins, cranberries, prunes, dates and apricots.

The ground flax seed and chopped nuts are stirred in. Once again, choose your favourite. I like almonds, cashews, walnuts and Brazil nuts.

The muesli is done! Simple.

I love the muesli as a base for overnight oats with plant milk, layered with berries, bananas, plant yoghurt and hemp seeds.

The muesli is also fantastic with plant milk and grated apple, grapes and pomegranate seeds.
